Every year, on or before
May 1, the owner of a mobile home must pay taxes and obtain and
prominently display a Cobb County decal (location permit). A 10%
penalty ($5.00 minimum) and interest at 1% per month (12% per year)
will be assessed after May 1 on the unpaid balance. Failure to pay
taxes and obtain and properly display a Cobb County decal will
result in a citation being issued to the owner. The owner must then
appear in Magistrate's Court and pay court imposed fines. Cobb
County Mobile Home decals can be obtained only at the
Tax Commissioner's office located at 736 Whitlock Avenue, Suite 100,
Marietta, 30064 between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Each year mobile home
dealers must report to the Tax Assessors' office all mobile homes
situated on their lot as of January 1.
When a mobile home moves
into Cobb County after January 1, the owner must register the mobile
home with our office within 7 days of permanent placement of the
home in Cobb County. Upon proof that taxes for the current year have
been paid, the new owner will receive a Cobb County decal for the
current year. The decal must be displayed on the home so it can
easily be seen from the street.
The owner of a mobile
home must obtain a title to the home in their name within 30 days of
purchase. The new owner must go to any Cobb County Tag Office
(locations listed below) to apply for a new title. You must provide
a current paid tax receipt before your title application will be
processed. If there is a lien on the mobile home, most lien holders
will apply for the new title. Contact the Mobile Home Division at
(770) 528-4030 for details.
Before a mobile home is
moved to another location within Cobb County or is moved out of the
county, out of the state, to another lot within the same mobile home
park, to an impound lot or land fill the owner must obtain a moving
permit from our office (click
herefor a
form).
