 Property Tax News

  • With the recent passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, many residents are inquiring about making prepayments on their 2018 property tax in the 2017 calendar/tax year in order to increase their 2017 federal income tax deductions.

GA Tax Commissioners are prohibited from accepting property tax payments without an order to bill and collect issued by the Revenue Commissioner at the GA Department of Revenue. The law (OCGA 48-5-135) states that if tax is collected prior to the order, we are subject to fines and penalties.

Historically, Cobb County receives our billing order late July / early August after our Tax Digest is reviewed and approved by the GA Department of Revenue. Until then, we cannot legally collect any payment of 2018 property taxes.

Please contact our office with any additional questions or concerns. It is our goal and privilege to exceed your service expectations.
  • On Friday, July 28, 2017, the Georgia Dept. of Revenue accepted the 2017 Tax Digest. A copy of the billing order can be found here. The process of calculating Real and Personal Property tax bills has been started and bills are scheduled to be mailed on or before August 15, 2017.
